Back in high school, I dated a couple of girls, and I even became sexually active with two of them. Since then, I've always considered myself bisexual. I still find women attractive, but I haven't been with one in years. I enjoy men, too. Am I just a straight girl masquerading?? I watched the most recent episode of Desperate Housewives a couple of days ago, and it posed some serious questions for me. If you don't know what's going on or just aren't a fan of the show, Katherine, one of the housewives, has recently had a sexual experience with her new roommate, who is a gorgeous retired stripper. When she asks her gay neighbors, Bob and Lee if this means she's a Lesbian now, Lee tells her that she isn't, using the phrase, "you can't switch from meat to fish overnight." Hmmph. That definitely puts a colorful spin on things.
So what's defined as being gay, and who comes up with this definition? When girls in college find themselves "experimenting" with their friends, are they undercover bisexuals, or are they just a little curious after one too many drinks? If you have sex with a girl, and the next day you're unsure about that, are you lying to yourself about something? I suppose the most pressing question is what makes you a lesbian? Is it shaving off all of your hair? Wearing men's clothes? Denying all of the things that make you a woman? I don't know. I can't really be sure if I'm bisexual by society's standards. I am sure that I like women. . . and men. But what does that mean?
One of my friends confided in me that her best friend was becoming bi-curious because they had been hanging around a lot. Is she gay? Has she always been leaning towards being with a woman? Even if its just sexually? In my own personal opinion, and I don't care if you agree or not. I think that at some point in a woman's limited life, she has feelings for another woman. They can be emotional or physical, but they are there. Some of us just happen to latch on to those feelings and make them our permanent ride of choice.
But back to my original question: What makes a woman a lesbian??? Anybody care to follow up on this topic?
Avant-Garde at its best, this blog is here to agitate the masses. A proud social deviant, I'm here to make it known that our society, as popular as it may be, needs to be called out on some shit! Like the cool kids in high school who we all look up to, but know aren't going to go far in life. Mainstream society is alright, and some of it can even be the bees-knees, but what about the other side? This is the voice of underground thought.
